I had several domains a few years back with this company, I used one for a promotion and had only needed it for a bit, after a year I noticed some money had gone from my paypal account, I discovered that they had taken because I had failed to untick the box instructing them to renew my domain every year, fair enough they gave me my money back for that, so I made sure I never had it ticked and removed it, then I left them to join someone else and moved all the domains I wished to keep to the new company, yola, on 5/12/13 I discovered more money missing from my account I decided to look into and had discovered a domain name that had not even been renewed the last 3 years to have suddenly been renewed, they have not been very helpful and when I finally got through on the phone the woman told me to 'F*/k off and deal with it' I am still in dispute with them and am taking it as far as I can even thou its only £8.38 I am not ignoring it because the account had even been cancelled. Avoid like the plague and use someone like yola or 1&1, also google ranks these better.
I had a technical problem with a fresh wordpress installation and after having difficulty working out where the problem was I put in a support ticket.
I was really impressed that when I logged on about an hour later, not only did my ticket have a response, the problem had also been fixed.
I feel reassured that if I have a more serious issue in future that the support system is fast, friendly and effective.
Recommend this site to anyone, I have been with them several years now. A very user friendly site. Even their 'Build a Website' is very easy to follow. When need any help no matter what it is they are on hand with descriptive instructions, or live chat for those who need answers. Highly recommended :)
I can't believe how good 123-reg are. I am not good on a computer and yet have managed to set up and go live with my very own website. The live chat and questions have been answered immediately by them. I have wasted over a year pondering on whether to give it a go but realise that I should have done it months ago. I never thought I would be able to set up my own website but 123-reg are amazing. Don't listen to any bad reviews, they are awesome!!!!
I would recommend 123. I have been with them for many years and when they told me that my old website was outdated I was worried that I might not have the expertise to rebuild the site. I also wanted to keep my old template, and thanks to the skills of a certain tecnician this was made possible. Not only that the price for hosting has fallen.
I am more than satisfied and will be with 123 for years to come (hopefully).
I was having a problem with a new WP website I host on 123Reg and needed some help to resolve the problem, as I was getting nowhere trying to google for a solution. Every email I sent was replied to well within 30 mins and the problem was soon sorted.
Couldn't access webmail for several accounts under one domain. Although I hadn't changed the password I thought I would reset the passwords from the control panel but the credentials I was using wouldn't work.
Using the chat support, 'John' got me access to the control panel but the mailboxes were not there. They had been deleted by 123reg hence the error.
Apparently I had free mailboxes either as an error or part of some legacy account.
John said :-
" We understand that is not your fault however please note that this was a system error and the emails used were free of charge instead of paying for them. We have previously written to advise you that your account exceeded its mailbox quota and that unless addressed, some of your email addresses would be suspended after 14 days and deleted after 28"
This is utter rubbish and I have had no such communication from you either via the post or email.
Deleting mailboxes in such a wholesale, carefree manner is unacceptable. I only have a couple of domains with you but also run a web agency and will be moving mine and all future business away from you.
123 Reg provides a necessary service in an easy to manage manner. They actually deliver what they offer. Domain Names, Domain name searches, customer service, and at fair prices.
In addition, when I have had problems with servers going down or anything that has compromised my domain or websites, the 123-reg customer service was available and helpful.
I've been a customer since 2005, and have registered more domains than I can remember through them. In the past, they were very quick to respond to a query, very helpful and very knowledgeable. Now they're .... well, they're fast. I won't be using them again, or recommending them to anyone else.
The straw that broke the camel's back is this: I received an E-Mail this morning informing me that 123-reg have taken money for (what turned out to be, after a lot of searching) three domains (and not cheap ones) which I had registered a year ago. By default, they set all domains to auto-renew; that part is my fault, as I should have thought to check that. But in their terms and conditions they state that they will notify you when domains are due to expire/renew; I even posted a link from their site to customer support showing this, and it DID NOT HAPPEN. I've got plenty of other E-Mails from them, including the ones telling me that I've paid, but not this one.
You would think that having been a long-term customer and spent a considerable amount of money with them, they'd be willing to entertain the idea of a refund, but the old adage "Once you have their money, never give it back" really rings true here - they swear blind that they sent a reminder, which they definitely haven't unless Google is in the habit of eating mails. As a thank-you I intend to move every single one of my domains to another registrar that's not part of HostEurope, and renew through them instead. I've got no problem giving money to companies that provide a good service and good support, but in this case I simply feel that isn't the case.
Very, very disappointing.
I have bought several domains and set up a website via 123-reg .co.uk . The Support service is great especially for someone like me who can just send emails . Thanks to Petru
Linux, DNS, Hosting, Wordpress... its all so complicated, thank goodness 123 Reg support is there otherwise I'd never get my website off the ground.
Sorin is brilliant, understands what I need and gets it done quick-smart.
(Marcia is less efficient, just sends me links to a bunch of jargon I don't understand!)
I was struggling with a problem regarding a website's Tag. I have used other live chats before but they have been very sluggish at the best of times. This is certainly not the case with 123reg! Within about 30 seconds I was greeted and all my questions were answered. I would recommend this company to anyone. 10/10 service!
I am very surprised at how easy that was. I expected to have to repeat myself and re-word my questions and whatnot. However, the conversation was straight forwards, polite and my questions were answered perfectly... immediately. Thanks guys ;)
I have been having problems with payment for way too long, first couldn't add paypal, then couldn't add a card, then couldn't do the direct debit... and I was just going around in circles following instructions and not going anywhere. Then I decided to go to the online chat and follow the same old steps that were not working before... and just got through with payment. It was a great relieve but I am just baffled by what happened before! I was getting desperate and very impatient, on the brink of giving up. Then managed to pay with paypal. Whatever was going on before? Who knows? Support might have been just as baffled as me... Luckily it's sorted!
Had a number of issues with our existing provider when wanting to transfer a number of TLD's to 123-reg. With help from two of their support personnel, I was provided with all the information I needed to get a response from the old provider, and transfer the domains quickly.
Thanks for the assistance, it was most appreciated.
I have on several occasions contact support. it seems they are instructed to just reply to you with support articles and not assisting you how one would expect. Therre are quite a few linitation within the website builder package which is a shame. I dont rate this company for business though as its fine building the site but then you have add on extras like site traffic... i purchased the pro version to get Acc manager and all the phone call did was to say i have been told by 123 to put the meta tags in the wrong place... to be honest my account manager rambled on about scripts and other stuff what i am supposed to do... so why pay for the extra service if all they are going to do is use their techno jargon on you and expect you to do the back end scripts. to be honest i should have just paid a web designer the £500.00 to design and put all the tags in because a business page is pointless unless it is viewed in the search engine correctly and the amount you end up paying with 123 is close to that anyhow........ on a plus note there is one gentleman at 123 who actually assisted with a attachment to show me how to do something which was most helpful.

Good product, with reasonable prices. I purchased both domains, shared hosting and VPS for me and on behalf of customers. So 123-reg is always my first choice when I need something of above. However! Billing dept has some catching up to do, had a situation last year when my DD weren't going out properly (upgraded VPS). Despite opening tickets with billing advising the monthly DD amount wasn't right and that I did not want to have a situation in a few months when I'd have to pay a chunk of money because they finally realised I was in a short fall. Each time I was assured it would not happen and on one instance I was even told that they don't send DD pre-advice emails (hmm ok hahah - like whatever).
Sure as hell few months later I had a DD coming out for a much higher than expected amount and naturally I questioned it. Only to be treated (in my opinion) as a serial non-payer and that it indeed was me who was wrong and who dared to owe them money. When I pointed out that there indeed was ticked dating few moths back (actually some of the conversation still sat in the same ticket - so all they had to do was to actually READ it) and told the person to read what was written in the ticket a few months back, I was met with what I could only describe as "poor" response. I felt treated badly (and victimised) and having done all I could to notify them of and issue, I was still made to be the "bad guy"... It's all sorted now, even though this happened a few months back I still feel a need to tell someone.
All in all I'm still using them as I think they are a good company and I do recommend them to my friends and clients :) Slowly turning away to azure but that's another story :)
I am operating a small Bed & Breakfast website, basic Wordpresss install. Max 15 visitors per day. Clients had complained that they were unable to access the website so naturally I got in touch with 123-reg (total page load roughly 45 secs, regular 500 errrors).
I operate many websites, across many different hosts. I use a variation of cloud, VPS, dedicated, and shared hosting. I am by no means a newbie to shared hosting. Never have I seen such poor shared hosting, for what is a very small website.
Upon reporting this, aside from one operative, most support agents simply blamed my website and told me to upgrade to their VPS package, which significantly more expensive than the shared package (which itself isn't cheap) and way beyond the scope of my needs.
I quote their support agent on reporting this issue:
Andrew (17:24): You have a WordPress website in place on a shared hosting plan, you host the site with other sites on the same server that draws resources based on the site's needs, yours requires a lot of resources that the server delays to deliver, you can try to disable some of the plugins/addons on the site to boost performance.
Again, basic Wordpress install and a couple of lightweight / widely used plugins - check it out at www.bedandbreakfaststamford.org.
I feel sorry for the business owners out there who do not have the expertise/resources to fix these issues, and find 123-reg's 'tough luck, upgrade' approach extremely frustrating.

I have used 123-reg for a couple of websites now. I find their dashboard relatively straight forward, and there is prompt online chat support for when I have had queries. I have used other web hosting companies in the past, and the resolution of issues has not been as prompt as I have found with 123-reg
Once again, 5 stars for 123-reg support team. They helped resolve an issue in record time and pointed me in the right direction to resolve another issue. Brilliant support all the way, thanks guys!
Experienced fantastic support today with 123-reg. I had an issue where an SSL and domain had been renewed when they should have been cancelled. Luckily a guy named Petru in support helped me sort out the problem and got me my money back.
Had problems with site and email forwarding but online help sorted it out very quickly.
As I'm not the most technically gifted I really appreciate the help and guidance from the team at 123. I was struggling to understand what I needed and they are happy to help give advice to provide the detail I required and in the most cost effective way.
